For the non-gamers out there, the Konami code is a cheat featured in many classic Nintendo titles released by the Japanese game company Konami in the 1980s. Since then, the code has popped up throughout pop culture, cleverly planted in countless video games, television shows and websites.
'The Bank of Canada's web team thought the Konami code was a fun way to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation,' says Bank of Canada spokeswoman Josianne Menard.
